Everything is given.

What I am was given.

Where I am was given.

How could then any of my merits ever be considered mine?

Everything is given.

What you are was given.

Where you are was given.

How could then anyone point at you for being who you are?

Everything is given.

Nothing belongs to us.

NOTA MENTAL:

“Everything is given” doens’t mean “nothing matters”.

Nihilism is a b****.

Don’t fall into its teenage charm that overdramatizes

every emotional thought that crosses your mind,

and that dries you out into cynicism and apathy,

that sinks you into a lifeless and meaningless reduction to absurdum.

“Everything is given” means thankfulness, compassion and kindness.

“Nothing matters” means ungratefulness, disregard and defeat.

In a way, it is similar to acceptance and resignation.

The connotation changes it all.

Acceptance means thankfulness, compassion and kindness.

Resignation means ungratefulness, disregard and defeat.

So now you know which way.

AND WHAT ABOUT FREE WILL?

As previously agreed, every person is a combination of their innate configuration and the environment they were given. The illusion of free will lies therefore in the first-person perspective with which we navigate and interact, and thus experience the world and the self as life. Feeling certain of being in charge of whatever is happening is as delusive as if flowers would try to take credit for blooming. And still it can be useful to believe in free will and to try to consciously lead the first-person perspective, in order to make the best out of every decision that we pretend to take.

COROLLARY:

  • Become a professional human being.

  • Be the best version of yourself.

  • Search within yourself what it means to be yourself.

  • Thrive into the person you would be proud of.

  • Take your time and be kind.
